Guidelines
General Guidelines
All contributors must be at least 16 years old by the time contributor application results emails are sent (June 29, 2026).
You must have a Discord account and maintain reliable access to it for the duration of the project. All communication will be done through a private Discord server.
Before applying, please be mindful of your workload! If you are accepted, you are agreeing to adhere to our project's schedule. Extensions will be allowed, but only if you communicate with the mods on a timely basis. If you do not communicate and we struggle to get a hold of you, we may kick you from the project.
Work Related Guidelines
Works using AI are strictly forbidden. This means using it in any shape or form, including inspiration. Plagiarism (such as copying works without permission or credit) is also not allowed. If you are found doing either, you will be kicked from the project. Your application will not be considered if your portfolio contains these elements, so please be mindful when selecting your example pieces.
We welcome and encourage all forms of canon divergence! All canon-compliant ideas will be accepted as well. Our only requirement is that all interpretations of this project's theme must remain SFW.
This project will contain themes of violence, gore, and profanity on par with the original webcomic. However, slur usage and excessively graphic gore will not be permitted. The mods are willing to discuss further the scopes of this rule once creation period begins.
Please do not share WIPs or the final piece outside of the project's Discord server while the project is in process. You may include your piece in private portfolios, but only with explicit permission. After project close, you are allowed to do anything with your piece. This includes sharing it to social media and selling it.
General Application Guidelines
Applicants must share 3 example pieces in their application, which best shows the style of work they want to create for the project.
A link to a portfolio must be provided. This can range from a Google Drive link, dedicated website (such as a Carrd), AO3 account, or even a dedicated social media account as long as the organization is clear.
Discord links are not allowed since they are not permanent links. Any use of them will automatically void your application.
If using Google Drive, please make sure the permissions are set for anyone to view. If we can’t see your pieces, then we won’t be able to judge your application!
All example pieces must be SFW only. Suggestive content is allowed in portfolios as long as it’s not an example piece and tagged appropriately.

Cover / Page Art Guidelines
Application Guidelines
Page artists must provide 3 example pieces. One example is required to have a background.Example pieces will be judged on:
Coherency: Are the characters shown distinct and recognizable?
Background: Do characters exist in a recognizable space? How does the background contribute to what is happening to the character? (This does not inherently mean natural landscape backgrounds; this is about whether you can fill a page in a way that demonstrates intent!)
Color use: Do pieces demonstrate an understanding of color, depth, shadows, and more?
Pieces that go against any of these criteria for stylistic reasons will not be marked off. These rules are flexible, and mods will be able to account for specific art styles while going through portfolios. Include pieces that demonstrate your best strengths as an artist!Having at least one piece featuring Homestuck characters is recommended. This will not impact your application and is not required, but it will help the mod team better understand how the characters could look in your style.Within the application, we ask your top two preferences of the Beta kids if accepted. Please be open to the possibility of being assigned your second pick so we can ensure balanced representation.
Writer Guidelines
Application Guidelines

Trimmed samples from longer works are allowed as long as they’re edited to fit the word limit.Example pieces will be judged on:
Grammar and Structure: Do your pieces include correct grammar, flow, sentence structure, and punctuation?
Worldbuilding / Imagery: Are you able to play into the feeling of Homestuck’s worlds with your writing?
Word Limit: Are you able to tell a full story within the word limit provided?
Characterization: While the mod team will be much more flexible given characterization is up to interpretation, realistic characterization of Homestuck characters that could be featured in your piece will be taken into consideration.
Within the application, we ask your top two preferences of the Beta kids if accepted. Please be open to the possibility of being assigned your second pick so we can ensure balanced representation.
